Robert E. "Speedy" Lininger, Sr., 73, of 30 Jupiter Road, Emporium, PA
went to God at Geisinger Medical Center on Thursday, June 17, 2021.
He was born January 6, 1948 in Renovo, PA, a son of the late Harold G. Lininger and Dessie Scrimshaw Lininger. On July 22, 1972 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Kersey, PA, he married Carol Greenawalt, who survives. Carol and Speedy were happily married for 49 years and were approaching their Golden Anniversary.
Speedy graduated from Cameron County High School. He retired from the railroad as a welder in 1999, which had been his career for many years. He also consulted for the law firm Keller & Goggin out of Philadelphia for several years. He was a member of the Cameron County School Board on which he served several terms. He was an avid car enthusiast (thus “Speedy”). He most enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by a son, Robert “Rob” Lininger, Williamsport, daughter Loretta Lininger, Coudersport; and a son Paul (Amy) Lininger, Emporium; and five grandchildren: Ian, Brooke, Sierra, Jaston and Caroline.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as two brothers Richard and Harold Lininger (infancy).
There will be No Visitation. A Celebration-of-Life Gathering and “cruise-in” will be held at the Woodland Elementary School parking lot - Woodland Ave., Emporium, PA on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 11:00AM-1:00 PM, with a memorial service at noon. Anyone owning a show automobile is encouraged to bring it, but it’s not necessary.
Burial will be at Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA.
