Dolores Avita Leavitt

Dolores Avita Leavitt, 87, of Beechwood Rd., Emporium, PA died at Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, PA on Saturday (December 9, 2017) evening following a brief illness. She was born October 9, 1930 in Emporium, PA a daughter of the late Lee C. and Rachel Hickok Skillman. On March 3, 1949 in Moore Hill United Methodist Church she married the late Charles Leavitt. Mrs. Leavitt enjoyed her family, playing the piano and organ. She played piano for the Abundant Life Tabernacle for many years and also for the Moore Hill Homecomings. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Emporium. She worked for Philips for many years and also for Helpmates.

Survived by two sons, Joseph Leavitt and Richard (Linda) Leavitt, Truman; her dog Lucky whom she loved very much; three grandchildren, Mike (Allison) Leavitt, Harrisburg; Carrie (Mark) Palmerchuck, Virginia & David Leavitt, Truman. four great grandchildren, Nathan and Rachel Palmerchuck, Aiden & Owen Leavitt.; one brother, Robert Skillman, Gaffney, SC; sister-in-law, Pauline Kelly, Williamsport, PA whom she talked to every day and referred to her as her sister; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee C. and Rachel Hickok Skillman; and her husband, Charles Leavitt who died Jan 9, 2012, 

There will be No Visitation.

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held at the Barnett Funeral Home 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Lionel Owen, Pastor, Christian Missionary & Alliance Church, officiating

. Burial will be in the Moore Hill Cemetery, Emporium, PA
