“Talkin’ Turkey” Homeschool Program Offered at Sinnemahoning State Park

“Talkin’ Turkey” Homeschool Program Offered at Sinnemahoning State Park Calling all homeschoolers! Bring your children to Sinnemahoning State Park for fun and learning and discover how the North American turkey has been playing a vital role in the natural world long before making its way to the dinner table each Thanksgiving.

On Thursday, November 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at the Park Office & Wildlife Center, Sinnemahoning State Park environmental education program will offer “Talkin’ Turkey” to homeschooled and cyber-schooled students in grades K-12. Students will explore the adaptations, communication and history of the turkey through a variety of fun and engaging demonstrations and activities.

This program is free of charge, but pre-registration is required. To register your child, please contact the park office at Sinnemahoning State Park at 814-647-8401 or SinnemahoningEE@pa.gov. Program size is limited so registering early is encouraged. Deadline to register is Tuesday November 17 at 4:00 PM.

Event will be held rain or shine, with program activities held both indoors and outdoors, depending on the weather. Dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared for outdoor activities. There will be a 30-minute break for lunch. Families should bring a packed lunch.

Parents are required to stay on-site for the day and are encouraged to participate with their children. Program activities are designed for students in grades K-12. Younger children are welcome to attend with a parent.

If you need an accommodation to participate in PA State Park activities due to a disability, please contact the park you plan to visit. With at least three days’ notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs.
