This week the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce received approval from
the PA Department of Agriculture to use the PA Preferred Logo at the Artisan
Center. “Many of our items are made by
Pennsylvania artists that grow or only use materials found in the state,”
explained Executive Director, Tina Johns Solak.
The program is used as a marketing tool to solicit orders from those
looking to only feature items made in the United States. Artists at the center are being asked to
apply for the status. Johns Solak hopes
to see Karen Vasko, who makes butters using fruit grown in Cameron County,
Nelson Haas and Marilyn Erickson who make walking sticks from those gathered in
the county and Teresa Genaux who spins alpaca fleece into yarn and knits items
to all be PA Preferred in the next few months.
