Emporium Food Market Morphs into Movie Theatre
This Saturday night, October 2 the Emporium Food Market will clear the produce section to make way for the showing of a movie. The event is free and open to all ages.
Cameron County chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tina Solak explained that one of the suggestions from the Cameron County Project was that residents and students wanted more free family events like an outdoor movie. When the idea was tossed around Scott McCann owner of Emporium Food Market volunteered the store and suggested having it indoors so weather would not be an issue. Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services volunteered use of a blow up screen, a popcorn machine and money to purchase snacks. The chamber of commerce recently purchased a projector. “Through cooperation among ADAS staff, and Emporium Food Market Hocus Pocus will be shown free of charge and at a unique venue,” said Solak.
Movie goers can enter the store at 7:15pm with the movie to start at 7:30pm. Please bring a chair, blanket and enjoy the free snacks. But if you do not see a snack that is free, feel free to shop the store and purchase your favorite.
