Have You Received Unsolicited Seeds by Mail ?

Have you received unsolicited seeds in the mail labeled as jewelry? This is likely a scam known as “brushing” – Companies boost online sales by purchasing their own products through fake buyer accounts created by the company. The products are shipped to a real address, to someone who didn’t order the item. The seller writes a positive review of their items from the fake buyer account.

If you’ve received a package like this, don’t throw away or plant the seeds!

Keep them secure, and report them to USDA’s confidential Antismuggling Hotline, 800-877-3835 or email SITC.Mail@aphis.usda.gov.

Churches Team Up to Build Handicap Ramp for Emporium Family

EMPORIUM, Pa (WJAC) — "Two Cameron County churches teamed up with the Kane District Ramp Ministry, in Warren County, to build a wooden handicap ramp for a family in Emporium. Reverend Joe Short, with the Emporium First Methodist Church, says he got a call about a family that needed a handicap ramp built on their future home. He teamed with volunteers from the Saint Mark's Roman Catholic Church to help them out.

The Kane District Ramp Ministry was able to get the lumber for the project, despite it being in a shortage. Reverend Short says the family was in awe when they saw the ramp coming to fruition.

"Our faith tells us that we should be about the needs of others. When it hits personal and hits home with us, it really helps us appreciate how someone else may feel or what their needs are. And that's when faith, God, really takes over and opens up doors for us to be able to help someone in need." The volunteers say projects like this are uplifting and help people get past all the negativity that is in our world today."

New Sign @ Emporium Senior Center

Sign Language has installed the the Emporium Senior Center sign making it one of the latest improvements to the building.

ATV Use Opens in Gibson Township, Cameron County

Photos by CC ATV/UTV Assoc.

A lot of years, discussions, research and time put in signs are now up in Gibson Township. Hoping that all who use this opportunity to ride, ride responsibly.  This is a privilege that can be taken away by the ignorance of some. Be smart and most of all, be safe!!
Great day for Cameron County ATV Association!

Pictured are native Cameron County residents Carl Mitchell, Mike Ryan, Nick Keller, Michele Park ( taking photo) Jeff Snell, on the far right, is current Cameron County resident.

Recently Gibson Township and the Driftwood Borough have voted to allow dual use on some of their municipal roads. This is a privilege that the Cameron County ATV Association and our members have been lobbying for publicly and privately over the last three years. Our association will be purchasing and installing all of the signage that is required to allow dual use on the roads with no cost to the municipalities. We would like to thank both municipalities for taking these initial steps to allow dual use roads in our county. This is a great opportunity for all of our businesses “down county” and we are working on ways to connect more local businesses to the trail system. This will also give our community another great positive option to experience the outdoors locally with their families and friends.

It is important for everyone to remember and follow all Pennsylvania laws governing dual use roadways. Helmets and eye protection must be worn by all riders at all times. All ATVs on the roadway must be registered and insured just like a regular motor vehicle. The vehicle operator must possess a valid driver’s license. You must display your DCNR license plate when traveling on dual use roads. Traffic code regulations are the same for an ATV and a regular vehicle. All posted speed limit signs must be obeyed and traffic laws followed. The trail will have areas where drivers must slow down to 5 m.p.h. to ride past residential areas. This will all be clearly marked with signage from the Cameron County ATV Association.

No-go areas will also be very clearly marked and surveilled.

The Elk State Forest District Office has not been receptive to allowing any ATVs on any of their roads in their working forest. This includes the Bucktail Viewing Area or as we all know it, Top of the World. This popular automobile destination will be off-limits for ATVs and clearly marked as such. Unlike the neighboring Susquehannock And Sproul State Forests, there is no area in the Elk State Forest to legally operate an ATV. There are also many private and residential roads that will be marked as no-go areas.
Again, please follow all posted signage.

The opening of dual use roads in our county is a privilege that can be revoked at any time. We are calling on all of our members and anyone that uses these roads to respect the laws and ride responsibly or this privilege may be quickly taken away. This is an opportunity for modern ATV enthusiasts to prove that this outdoor family activity can be done safely, responsibly, and without creating the environmental disasters anti-atv individuals claim will happen

I am very sorry to inform everyone that I have had to cancel any photo sessions that were to take place on public lands such as state parks and state forest land due to new Covid 19 restrictions. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone. As soon as the restrictions are lifted we will be rescheduling our mini shoots and full sessions. We are currently looking for private land locations that we can continue on and get things going again ASAP .
Thank you for your understanding. Danid A Woodring

I was wondering if there would be any interest in a couples / family mini shoot at top of the world on an upcoming weekend? It would be a 20 minute session for $48.00+ tax. you would get 10 to 12 shots posted in an online gallery. One free 8X10 print, free watermarked social media sized digitals, and the ability to order any prints you would like from the online gallery or download full resolution digitals from the gallery. Let me know if there is any interest and I will get it on the schedule.

This is a 20 minute session for $48.00+ tax. You will get:

10-12 downloadable full resolution digitals posted to an online gallery.
Credit for one 8X10 print Watermarked social media sized digitals
The ability to purchase additional prints from the online gallery.

Thanks Woody

Hazen Flea Market Update

UPDATE 07.11.2020

In our region COVID-19 cases are climbing and mask orders are in place for the state. Our County Fair is also cancelling. Do to solidarity with other event organizers and inability to acquire proper supplies.

WE ARE CANCELLING THE AUGUST FLEA MARKET---OUR HANDS ARE TIED.

Most of the festivals, fairs, and other events in our area and region have already cancelled events well into SEPTEMBER. The safety of everyone at the Flea Market and our community and surrounding area, is our priority. We have huge crowds 10,000 plus and people from all over the neighboring states to Pennsylvania and the East Coast.

We are taking this month to month. It is not easy and do not take it lightly.

Emporium Town Pool May Close

July 31st may be the last day the town pool is open.

" CAMERON CO, Pa (WJAC) — The Cameron County High School pool opened earlier this month, after delays related to the pandemic and ongoing repairs. While the pool is currently open, there's a possibility it could close at the end of the month due to a leak that was found in the deep end.

The Cameron County School Board and local water department will decide the pool's fate if the leak is not properly fixed.

"The school board and the water company will make the ultimate decision. Due to the cost of the amount of water going in it, and the fact that the amount of water it’s pulling from the water company, at this point, the way we are leaking, we're figuring July 31st will be our last day.

" Staff says the decades-old swimming area is a staple in the county and is a safe haven for children and their families.""
