Butterfly Program and Kayak Tour This Weekend at Sinnemahoning

Butterflies of PA, Saturday, July 25, 2020, 1:30 PM-2:30 PM. Discover the butterflies of Pennsylvania with a short talk followed by a walk to the meadows to catch and release butterflies. Hike will be about 1.5 miles over uneven terrain. Butterfly nets will be provided. Participants should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. All ages welcome. Limit 15 people. Bring a face mask. Meet at the Wildlife Center.

Campground Movie: Butterflies, Saturday, July 25, 2020, 8:30-9:30 PM. In the PBS video, “The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies,” NOVA flies along with monarchs as they migrate to the mountains of Mexico. 60-minute campground movie. Good for all ages. Bring a face mask. Cancelled if rain. All are welcome. Campground amphitheater.

Morning Kayak Tour, Sunday, July 26, 2020, 9:00 AM-10:30 AM. Kick start the day with a wildlife watching tour of the Stevenson Dam reservoir, the home of eagles, herons, beavers and more. All experience levels welcome, but all participants must be able to swim. Bring your own boat and life vest. Pre-registration is required. Limit 10 people. Meet at Lake Day Use Area.

To mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19, until further notice, all programs at Sinnemahoning State Park will be held outdoors, will be limited to 25 people or less, and will follow social-distancing guidelines. All participants must have a face mask in their possession and wear it at times when social distancing cannot be maintained.
