Labor Day Weekend Programs at Sinnemahoning

Celebrate Labor Day weekend with an outdoor adventure at Sinnemahoning State Park. Explore a stream, learn about bears, catch a butterfly, or cruise the lake on the pontoon boat. Choose just one program or try them all!

Underwater Wonders, Saturday, August 31, 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM. Explore freshwater habitats and the animals that live there. Snorkels and life vests provided. Wear water shoes and be prepared to get wet! Ages 8-18. 40 Maples Day Use Area.

Big Bad Bears, Saturday, August 31, 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM. Many black bear sightings have been reported this month at Sinnemahoning State Park. Learn more about bear safety with an interactive campground talk followed by a 30-minute Eyewitness video on bears. Fun for all ages. All are welcome. Campground Amphitheater.

Pontoon Boat Tours, Sunday, September 1. Two tours, 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM. Join park staff for a relaxing and informative tour of the George B. Stevenson reservoir. Program is free, but donations are requested. Group size is limited. Pre-registration is recommended. Meet at the boat launch of the Lake Day Use Area.

Monarch Watch Butterfly Tagging, Sunday, September 1, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM. Learn more about the beautiful monarch butterfly while taking park in a citizen science project. Monarch butterfly presentation followed by a short walk to catch, tag, and release butterflies. Arial nets provided. All ages. Wear closed-toe shoes and be prepared to walk through fields. Meet in Wildlife Center classroom.

Pontoon Boat Tours, Monday, September 2. Two tours 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM. No pre-registration needed on this extra day of these popular tours of the George B. Stevenson reservoir. Walk-ins welcome on Labor Day only. Group size limited. Donations are requested. Meet at boat launch of Lake Day Use Area.
