Rotary News


Rotarian, Bob Martin and Club Rotary Foundation Chairman, updated the club on the good works of the Rotary Foundation. Doing Good in the World – is the motto of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.

The Foundation’s Annual Fund- SHARE, is the primary source of funding for a broad range of local and international activities made possible through the Rotary Foundation. Endowment which is a Permanent Fund is used to provide long term stability to the funding of Foundation activities. Areas of Focus are: Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution

Disease Prevention and treatment

Water and Sanitation

Maternal and Child Health

Basic Education and Literacy

Economic and community Development

The Foundation also offers District and Global Grants. The Emporium Rotary has obtained District Grants in the past to purchase items for the Cameron County School District such as tubas and a piano, benches at the big flag memorial park, and most recent recreational activities at the Bucktail Rod & Gun Club. Global grants help programs to eradicate polio around the world, Rotary’s top philanthropic priority. Peace Fellowships and scholarships are also funded. Emporium Rotary has donated over $10,000.00, along with private donations of Rotarians. Anyone can donate by contacting the Rotary Foundation at www.rotary.org.
