Ethel M. Lewis


Ethel M. Lewis, 93, formerly of Bath, NY and Route 120 in Emporium, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, in Guy and Mary Felt Manor, Emporium. Born January 19, 1924, in Brookville, Pa., she was the daughter of Peter and Twila Mae Reese Abplanalp.

 She was a 1941 graduate of Emporium High School and married George Alden Lewis who died April 18, 2010. After her marriage she and her husband relocated to Bath, New York where they were both employed, Ethel as a Librarian in the Bath New York Public Library. Following retirement they moved back to Emporium where they enjoyed golfing and where Ethel was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Emporium Country Club.

 She is survived by one stepson, Patrick Butler and wife Patricia of Williamsville, NY; one step grandson, Christopher Butler; two step grandchildren; caregiver and niece, Jeanette Micklich; and many other nieces and nephews.

 In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Johnson in 2016.

 Friends will be received Saturday, April 8, 2017 in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, from noon until 1:00 p.m. at which time Funeral and committal services will follow with the Rev. Lionel Owen, interim pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Emporium, officiating. 
Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.

 Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cameron County Ambulance Service.
