Deadline Approaching for Sinnemahone Ultra Trail Run

Deadline Approaching for Sinnemahone Ultra Trail Run

October 1 is the deadline for the Sinnemahone Ultra Trail Run. The event offers three different courses to attract the novice hiker to experienced trail runner. The 10k features a stint on the pipeline, 25k a steep start up the Wylie Trail and the 50k includes a water crossing near the beaver dam. The entries for the 50k outnumber last years, including the women’s record holder Megan Parke returning to defend her title. Derek Newcomer will lead the pack on the 10k, attempting to keep his record.

All three distances will start and finish on the West Creek Rails Trails in Emporium. Emporium resident Jim Kempher will fire the cannon start at 7:30am on Saturday October 15. There is a 10 hour finishing limit. Friday October 14 will feature a meet and greet at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce.

Luigi’s will provide sandwiches and Fox’s Pizza Den Emporium will offer pizza. Participants can pick up their race packets including Hammer Nutrition samples, and a tech shirt with a design created by Cameron County artist Nelson Haas.

Registrations can be filed online, by mail or in person at the chamber office in Emporium.
The forms can be found at www.sinnemahone.org.
