Woodland Elementary School third graders gather in the Emporium office of Citizens & Northern Bank during their Teach Children to Save tour.
EMPORIUM, PA – Third graders from Woodland Elementary School visited the Emporium office of Citizens & Northern Bank Wednesday for the annual Teach Children To Save tour. Teach Children To Save is an American Bankers Association initiative designed to teach children the importance of fiscal responsibility. C&N bankers from all 26 branch offices participate annually.
Thirty-two students and their teachers, Ben Porkolab and Carol Wilson, visited the East Fourth Street office. Joseph Kilmer, C&N financial consultant, explained to the children how the bank makes money and how saving now will help them in their future. Branch employees Barbara Clinger, Amber Kulick and Rena “Michele” Brown showed the children the teller area, the vault and the drive-up area. All of the children colored pictures and Community Office Manager Kimberlea Whiting announced the winners, who were presented with a John Adams coin set.
Michela Smith and Delaney Rowan took home the top prizes.
Always a favorite, C&N’s “spokesbug,” Sammy Saver, made a special guest appearance. At the end of the presentation each child was presented with small gifts and, of course, a lollipop.
