Elaine M. Davis, age 86, of East Fourth Street, formerly of the Emporium Arms, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in Guy and Mary Felt Manor, Emporium.
Born July 8, 1927 in Emporium, she was the daughter of Harold and Ruby Hickok Smith. On September 18, 1948 in Emporium she married Kenneth L. Davis who died June 4, 1988.
A resident of Emporium her entire life, she was a 1948 graduate of Emporium High School. From 1951-52 she was employed by GTE Sylvania and from 1970-73 by Holloway’s Tool & Die both in Emporium. She was basically a homemaker but for many years she also performed housecleaning services for several regular clients.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Emporium and was very involved with the Democratic Women in Emporium.
Survivors include: a son, Kent W. (Wendy) Davis of Emporium; a daughter, Wendy (Bernard) Armstrong of Emporium; Nila DeFrancesco of Altoona; five grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her father and a brother Denmar Smith, age 5, who both perished in a fire in 1934 and by her mother Ruby Smith Achins in 1991.
There will be no visitation. Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cameron County Historical Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home Emporium.
