Born March 18, 1925 in Olean, NY, he was the son of William and Iva Carlson Donovan. On July 5, 1952 in Emporium he married Charmaine Streich who died March 18, 2001.
A resident of Emporium almost his entire life, Mr. Donovan was a veteran of the US Navy having served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was employed for many years as a lathe operator by Stackpole Corporation of St. Marys retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Emporium, VFW Post 6221 In Emporium, Emporium Country Club and Bucktail Rod & Gun Club.
Mr. Donovan is survived by: one son, David N. Donovan and wife Sheri of Emporium; two grandchildren, Darren Donovan and Cody Donovan also of Emporium; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitations with a video tribute will be held in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at which time Funeral & Committal Services will be held with the Rev. R. Scott Melott, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Emporium, officiating.
Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.
Military honors will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.
