Updated at 5:00 pm on Monday,--State Police report that the car thief that fled into the woods near the Elk-Cameron line Sunday is still at large. While troopers have no information to suggest the man is still in the area, they caution residents to always secure their homes and vehicles.

State Police at Emporium have issued an alert to residents of Rt. 120 near the rest area at the Elk-Cameron County Line to be on the lookout for an unknown white male described as 5' 10", 175 pounds, with short brown hair, wearing jeans and a gray short sleeve or sleeveless shirt.
The man was found to be operating a stolen vehicle. At 9:48 am on Sunday, he fled the scene into a wooded area and has NOT been apprehended at this time. The stolen vehicle was recovered.
Area residents are asked to assure that their homes and vehicles are secure. Anyone with any information is asked to contact PSP Emporium at 814-486-3321.
