Emporium Rotary Club
This week during our evening meeting, Rotarian Barry Brown, gave a presentation about the restoration of his 1945 Ford GPW Jeep. He completed this project with his father and uncle and the total time took about 2 years due to delays in getting parts during COVID. He shared a brief history of the Jeep including the highly debated origin of its name. Some say the word "Jeep" comes from the abbreviation GP (General Purpose vehicle) and others say it comes from the Popeye character, Eugene the Jeep, which had the ability to go anywhere - much like the Jeeps of the time. Barry brought his Jeep to show the group and share its many features - gas tank under the seat, manual wiper blades, memory plaque, and more!
