Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library Receives Major Grants for Cutting-Edge Technology Upgrades

The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded two generous grants, totaling $32,880, from the George & Margaret Mee Foundation and the Emporium Foundation. Each organization has provided $16,440 to enable the library to undergo a complete overhaul of its technology systems, benefitting patrons and staff alike.

In the coming months, the library will introduce brand-new patron access computers equipped with advanced capabilities, including video conferencing, digital editing tools, and other specialized software designed to meet the needs of a tech-savvy community. The upgrades will not only enhance the user experience but will also empower patrons to connect, create, and explore in innovative ways.

As part of the initiative, the library’s staff computers, circulation computers, and computer servers will receive critical updates, improving workflow efficiency and service delivery. In addition, the library’s media cart, which is a central tool for programming and events, will be revamped, further enriching the library’s educational and entertainment offerings. Patrons can also look forward to the availability of both a laptop and an iPad for in-house use, ensuring accessibility to modern technology for all visitors.

“This investment in our technology infrastructure is an exciting milestone for the library and our patrons,” said Library Director Yelena Kisler. “Thanks to the incredible generosity of the George & Margaret Mee Foundation and the Emporium Foundation, we’ll be able to offer enhanced digital tools and resources to our community, furthering our mission of providing access to knowledge, creativity, and innovation.” The project is expected to be completed over the next 6-8 months, and updates will be provided to patrons throughout the process.
