Each year the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce hosts a Firequacker Duck Derby to raise funds for the fireworks during
Weekend in the Wilds. An anonymous donor who plans a family reunion around the fireworks is issuing a challenge. He would like
to see North Broad Street filled curb to curb with ducks.
So far residents have adopted nearly 1,000 ducks. The goal is to reach 1300!. The anonymous donor recently adopted 360 of the
quackers in the hope that others will come into the chamber office and support the fireworks with a duck adoption. One duck may be
obtained for $2.00 while a 6-quack can be selected for $10.00. The ducks will paddle down North Broad Street with the help of the
Emporium Fire Department at 2pm on Saturday July 6.
