Rotary News

Ben Porkalob, Coordinator of Education from the Keystone Elk County Alliance (KECA) and Elk County Visitor Center in Benezette, was guest speaker of Rotarian John Rogers. Mr. Porkalob organizes field trips, distant learning and educational outreach. There are an estimated 320,000 people who pass through the Elk Visitor Center each year, with the Elk being the main attraction. 80% of Elk habitat is State/Federal Lands within 10 Pennsylvania Counties. Elk hunts keep the Elk where the Game Commission wants them. They try to contain them in the Northern and Eastern portions and not the Southern and Western portions of PA. because of the overpopulation of people in these areas.
