Cameron County Farmers Market - Saturday, May 25th!

Spring is in full swing and we all know what that means, it's time to get planting!
 So, this weekend's market theme is 🪴 GARDENING! 🪴 

There will be a variety of things on offer to get you started on your own horticultural journey: 
🪴Our resident expert gardener, Josh Zucal will be giving a series of informative talks on various subjects with the chance to get your hands in the dirt to do some planting while you listen and learn:
 * 9:30 am – Soil remediation and compost.
 * 10:00 am – Plant nutrition
 * 10:30 am - Planting, spacing, pruning, fertilization.
 * 11:00 am – Aquaponic/hydroponic culture 
* 11:15 am – Plant care, harvesting, problem detection

🪻If you want to add a splash of color to your outdoor garden Linda Slyder will have a variety of adult plants such as hostas, irises, cornflowers, ferns, wood hyacinth or day lilies.

🍅 Calder Wilds will be bringing a large selection of baby plants including tomato, pepper, cauliflower, broccoli, basil and some indoor and outdoor ornamentals including zinnias of various colors, blazing star and aloe vera.

🍄‍🟫 Calder Wilds will also be selling inoculated shiitake logs for those wanting to start their own mushroom farms. ◼️ And if you want to keep those pesky weeds at bay Calder Wilds will be offering Geo Textile weed cloth by the yard at a very reasonable price. In addition there will of course be an exciting line-up of regular vendors there offering everything from freshly baked breads and spring vegetables to beautiful artwork and crafts. 

The vendor line-up this weekend will include:

* FREEZE DRIED EMPORIUM - Tasha will be back with her large selection of freeze dried snacks and cotton candy. 
* ALPACA CREATIONS - Teresa will be offering her gorgeous hand-knit alpaca apparel, alpaca socks, natural and hand dyed alpaca yarns of different weights, boot inserts, dryer balls and more. 
* SHIITAKE JOE’S - Joe will be there with his home-grown, exotic mushrooms including his signature shiitakes. 
* ENGLISH ACRES - David will be back with a variety of spring vegetables. 
* SARAH JANE’S ART STUDIO - Sarah will be showcasing some of her beautiful original artwork and painted wine glasses.
 * QUIET ACRES Shirley will be offering her hand-made, braided and zig-zag rope items of all sizes while Greg will be bringing his hand-crafted bird feeders. They will also be selling their family line of Haldeman Mills pancake, cake and pretzel mixes. 
 * BREAKFAST AT NATALIE’S - Natalie will be there with her tasty, home-made yogurt, granola and granola bars.
 * D’S QUEEN BEES- Dylan will be back with his delectable honey and beeswax products.
 * MIKE THOMPSON - Mike is bringing his early, fresh from the ground, garden vegetables. 
* THE HYGRADE INN- Jim & Matt will be bringing a variety of their delicious breads, pepperoni rolls and sweet desserts.
 * THE KNIGHTS WAND - Amanda will have a selection of unique and colorful hand-made crochet garments and toys. 
 BEARDED BREWING- Josh will be selling his freshly roasted coffee beans.
 * HOBBY CENTER- Kelsie will have a selection of her adorable, hand-made crafts including fairy garden ornaments and crocheted items. 
* BITSY’S CRAFTY CORNER- Elizabeth will be showcasing her innovative, hand sewn items including bags, bookmarks and pet toys. *
 SPOLSKI MAPLE - Tom will be selling his delicious maple syrup (regular and cinnamon flavored) and maple mustard.
 * LESTER MAUGER - Lester will be offering his crafty, woodwork creations including picture frames, boxes and spice racks. 
* MOUNTAIN VIEW SHEEP FARM - Bonnie will be offering her gorgeous, hand-woven shawls and sheep’s milk soaps.
 * CALDER WILDS - Valerie and Steve will be there with spring vegetables, inoculated shiitake logs, hand painted pots and a selection of baby plants. 
* LIZ YOUNG- Liz will have a selection of painted birdhouses and original artwork 

 So stop by your local farmers market this Saturday, May 25, 9am to 12pm at the Emporium Town Square to support our hardworking vendors, pick up some goodies and learn more about how to be a successful gardener!
