Rotary Club of Emporium
This week, Rotarian Jeana Bolin invited Adam Mattis, co-owner of Graceful Acres, to be her guest speaker. Adam and his brother John, turned their 1950 160-acre family farm located in Halifax, Pa., into a non-profit equine assisted therapy facility. Beginning with 6 riders in 2012, they currently are serving 135 riders, many of whom have experienced emotional, sexual, or physical abuse, as well as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. They corral and feed 24 horses, ponies, cattle and mini cows. In 2019, Graceful Acres received the Jefferson Award which was created by the American Institute of Public Service. If you would like more information about Graceful Acres, you can reach them at 717-215-1768. Rotary thanks them for their contributing efforts for those in need.
