Sinnemahoning State Park
On April 25th, 2024 a prescribed fire was conducted to aid in the reclamation of the former White Spruce Plantation site, near the 40 Maples Day Use Area.
Fire in an ecosystem has many benefits including,
reducing hazardous fuels, lessening the spread of pests (such as ticks) and diseases, removing invasive species, encouraging the growing of native plants, improving food availability and habitat for wildlife, recycling nutrients and fertilizing soil to name a few!
