Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial April & May Talks for Virtual Author Series


Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library invites book enthusiasts to embark on a literary journey with its Virtual Author Talk Series, starting February 2024. This monthly spectacle features bestselling, award- winning authors from around the world, covering a diverse range of genres. April's Literary Talks:

1. Colum McCann & Diane Foley, American Mother - American Mother is the story of a mother who, in the course of confronting her son’s killer, gets to the elemental heart of violence and forgiveness. Diane Foley is the mother of Jim, a freelance journalist captured and beheaded by ISIS in 2014, an image that became one of the most iconic of the 21st century. – Date: Tuesday, April 9 Time: 2 PM ET

2. Xochitl Gonzalez, Anita de Monte Laughs Last - Anita de Monte Laughs Last is a propulsive, witty examination of power, love, and art, daring to ask who gets to be remembered and who is left behind in the rarefied world of the elite. - Date: Wednesday, April 17 th Time: 8 ET 

May’s Literary Talks

1. Douglas Brunt & debut non-fiction work, The Mysterious Case of Rudolf Diesel - This instant bestseller reveals the hidden history of Rudolf Diesel, one of the world’s great inventors, and his mysterious disappearance on the eve of World War I. -- Date: Wednesday, May 1 Time: 3 PM ET

2. Nina Simon -- Nothing brings a family together like a murder next door . . . chat with the author about her lighthearted whodunnit The Mother-Daughter Murder Club about a grandmother-mother-daughter trio of amateur sleuths. – Date: Wednesday, May 8 Time: 7 PM ET

3. Rebecca F. Kuang (R.F.Kuang) chats with us about her New York Times bestselling novel, Yellowface - Yellowface grapples with questions of diversity, racism, and cultural appropriation, as well as the terrifying alienation of social media. Date: Tuesday, May 21 Time: 7 PM ET
