Library presents: Josephine Baker: Women in History
EMPORIUM, PA - The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library proudly invites the community to an
engaging program, "Josephine Baker: Women in History," presented by the dynamic Susan Cannavino of
Presentations With Pizzazz in celebration of Women’s History Month in March. The event is scheduled
for Monday, March 11, 2024, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, offering both virtual and in-person attendance
options.
Josephine Baker, the legendary and provocative entertainer, will be brought to life through Cannavino's
exciting, educational, and entertaining biographical presentation. Whether attending in person at the
library located at 27 W. 4th St. in Emporium, PA, or virtually via Zoom, participants can expect a deep
dive into the intricate dynamics of Josephine Baker's personal and professional life.
During this particular session, audiences will gain insights into Josephine Baker's life in Paris during the
1920s, her remarkable work as a spy during WWII, her adoption of 12 children, and her unwavering fight
against racism.
Cannavino's expertise extends beyond Josephine Baker; she is a John Carroll University graduate, a
former English teacher, and a published poet. As a guest lecturer for Case Western Reserve University's
Siegal Lifelong Learning Program, Cannavino skillfully unveils the personal desires, ambitions, and
challenges of historical figures, making her presentations both enlightening and captivating.
