Wendell M. O’Brien, born on March 3, 1975 in St. Marys, PA, passed away on June 5, 2023 in Butler, PA. He was the son of Kurt D. O’Brien Sr. and Linda Smith Armstrong and attended Cameron County School and Bucktail Area High School in Renovo, PA.
Wendell, a graduate of BAHS Class of 94, was chosen in the year book as having the best sense of humor. He enjoyed his time along Kettle Creek in Westport prior to relocating to Emporium. He enjoyed gardening, music and talking to his friends and relatives.
Wendell is survived by his mother Linda and stepfather Donald (Duck) Armstrong of Crescent City, Florida; two sons, Bryce O’Brien of Corvallis, OR and Wendell O’Brien of Emporium; sister Gayle Heagy and brother Kurt O’Brien Jr of Crescent City Florida; nephew Brandon Heagy; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Kurt O’Brien Sr., infant daughter Leona June, maternal grandparents Martin and Gertrude Gibbs Smith, and paternal grandparents Wendell and Doris Vogt O’Brien.
Wendell will be remembered for his loving and gentle heart. As William Wordsworth once said, “The best portion of a good man’s life is his little nameless unremembered acts of kindness and of love.” This quote describes the love Wendell had for his family and friends.
A memorial will be held at the convenience of the family.
