Little Museum Opens Saturday, May 27th

The Little Museum in Sterling Run

Doors are opening for the season Saturday May27, 2022
from 1-4 PM.

We opened our doors early this year on Monday May 15, 2023 to 45 visitors from our school districts, the third graders. It was so much fun for all of us watching the kids intent on checking out many items of their own personal interests. One of the biggest attractions for the children are our numerous typewriters and adding machines and ringing the numerous bells. It gets loud at times but seeing their smiling faces when they see items marked as" kid friendly," they can't hold back.

There are so many things to see at the Museum that many of us who have volunteered at the Museum for many years are amazed how we ourselves find things we hadn't noticed before. Which brings us to share another way you can tour the museum through volunteering.

It's easy enough to do and a lot of fun. You not only get to meet some great visitors you get the chance to make some great discoveries of our counties past. All we ask as you donate 3 hours one time during summer to help share our amazing history with others.

Next time you wonder what you would like to do come for a visit. Rain or shine we are there. It's amazing that 75% of our visitors are from out of town. What is more incredible those who come return again because there is so much to see. For those of you who live here and have never been to the museum this is your time to visit and or volunteer.

We can be contacted by calling 814-486-0334 and leave a message. E-mail historycenter1@windstream.net, or check us out on facebook. Better yet if you seeone of the board members let them know.

Cameron County Historical Society Board of Directors, John Kautz, Susan Hoy, Judy Armanini, Wendy Davis, Sandy Ford, Tom Gavolock, Bernie Oswald, Inez Jordan, Pat Martin, and Dianna Ball Museum Volunteer Coordinator.

Just as a reminder if we have enough advance notice we will open our doors outside of normal hours for individuals and others. We love to share our history.

All the best to our entire community this summer, Museum Hours at Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 1-4 PM.
