The next vendors we would like to introduce to you are Matt & Amanda Dempsey, a couple of avid gardeners that will be bringing their deliciously fresh produce to the market.
Many of you may already be familiar with the Dempsey corn, as this seems to be a hobby/small business that has been passed down through the generations. Matt grew up learning farming from his dad, Ray, and took to it so much that he and Amanda continue to grow corn and many other vegetables today and are, in turn, passing down their gardening skills and passion to their young kids.
Along with the main crop, which is grown on his dad's land, the Dempsey family have turned part of their own yard into a smaller family-sized vegetable garden and grow everything from potatoes and peppers to corn and onions. Their kids join in and proudly showed me their own cherry tomato and melon plants that they planted and nurtured themselves. It's so nice to see the younger generation learning the all-important skills of growing their own food!
The Dempseys will be bringing a truck load of corn and some of their Hungarian wax peppers as well so come early and don't miss out!
The market will be open from 9am to 1pm, this Saturday 13th August at the Emporium Town Square.
We are very excited to welcome the Dempsey family to the market!
