Cameron County Resident Potter County Artisan of the Week

Cameron County Resident Potter County Artisan of the Week

The Potter County Artisan Co-op Artisan of the week is fiber artist Teresa Genaux of Emporium.

Teresa and her husband, John, own Alpaca Creations, founded in 2012. She was born and grew up in Coudersport and began knitting at a young age. A road trip with her daughter several years ago started their adventure of raising alpacas as they returned home, owners of four alpacas.

Teresa is a juried artist in the Pennsylvania wilds and can be found Fridays at the Potter County Farmers Market in Coudersport. She also spends the summer selling her hand knitted items at craft shows throughout Western Pennsylvania.

Teresa says knitting is relaxing and can be done anywhere, “if you remember to take the needles and alpaca yarn with you.” Alpaca is non-allergenic, odor resistant, moist wicking, strong and lightweight. It is not itchy and feels like more expensive cashmere. It is semi-hollow and a natural insulator.

You can find a selection of her items at the Potter County Artisan Center, 227 N. Main Street Coudersport. The center is open Monday through Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Credit cards accepted.
