The Blood Moon – May’s Full Moon Eclipse
Sunday, May 15th, 9:00 PM - 11:59 PM
Stay up late with the Sinnemahoning State Park educator for a look at the “blood moon” of 2022!
A total lunar eclipse is coming soon, which means the full "flower moon” of May 2022 will be turning into a reddish-orange "blood moon" for almost 90 minutes.
As we watch the moon, we will also talk about the moon’s phases and the sights and sounds of the park at night.
STOP BY ANYTIME BETWEEN 9 PM AND MIDNIGHT; STAY AS LONG AS YOU LIKE.
Program appropriate for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring a flashlight, a chair or blanket to sit on, and some snacks to get you through the late hours.
No pre-registration required.
Meet at the Wildlife Viewing Area ½ mile north of the Wildlife Center
This is the first of two lunar eclipses in 2022.
The next one will occur November 8.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate or you can’t make it outdoors, NASA will broadcast the eclipse on its Science Live YouTube channel https://bit.ly/3M2cTW6.
