"Emporium Shade Tree Commission is celebrating another year of qualifying the town as a “tree City.”
Don Caton and commission members encourage community members to attend an Arbor Day ceremony at 10 am Friday, April 29, at the borough office.
Established in 1950, the Shade Tree Commission is responsible for the planting of trees in public areas, ensuring tree growth and maintenance, as well as educating the public. More than 720 trees representing 40 different varieties have been planted by the organization over the years. National Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Emporium as a Tree City for 34 years. “We should be proud community should be proud to live in a place that makes the planting and care of trees a priority,” said Borough Manager Don Reed."
