Judith “Judy” Glasl Erskine

Judith “Judy” Glasl Erskine passed away on the evening of Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the age of 84, at Guy & Mary Felt Manor in her beloved hometown of Emporium, PA. Judy was born on November 4, 1937, in Emporium to parents John and Florence “Honey” Glasl and was the third of six fabulous daughters. She was a graduate of Emporium High School's class of 1955, where she met her high school sweetheart, William "Bill" Montgomery Erskine. Bill and Judy got married on March 25, 1955, and together they raised three wonderful daughters.

Judy wore just about every professional hat Emporium had to offer. She worked at the former Warner Hotel, Ogden’s Drugstore, Sylvia’s, the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce and was the very first employee at Luigi’s. She also owned and operated Judy’s Fashions, her boutique in Emporium. In the late 1960s, Judy had her own talk show on the local TV channel and volunteered as a co-chair for the Cameron County Division of March of Dimes. A devout Catholic her entire life, Judy was a proud member of St. Mark Catholic Church and served as a lector and Eucharistic minister.

Always staying active, Judy played softball, basketball and golf and was an avid bike rider, runner, walker and swimmer. She loved baking and was famous for her cinnamon rolls, which she would often deliver to workers she saw in town, refuse collectors, the state police and anyone who needed a lift in spirit. Judy loved playing cards (especially “canasty,” as her family nicknamed it) and had a unique affection for anything related to frogs. Her grandchildren remember her as being extra full of life, her great sense of humor and for being the silliest Grammy/Gigi in existence.

Judy is survived by her three daughters, Elaine Malizia, Lorraine Erskine-Dodds (Gerald) and Judy Erskine (George Brown); her six grandchildren, Carrie Pearsall (Shane), Jessica Lewis (Jason), Kimberlee Bryant (Jason), Kelsey Dodds (Scott Casale), Ryan Dodds (Meghan Sweeney) and Sophia Dodds; and 12 great-grandchildren, Corryn Pearsall, Kennedi Lewis, Jason Lewis, Anthony Bryant, Aydin Bryant, Asthin Bryant, Serena Casale, Joe Friga, Josh Friga, Ryder Brown, Camden Brown and Emmalyn Brown. Judy also leaves behind four sisters, Sally Perry (Gene), Rita Poorman (Bari), Eleanor “Ele” Mottern (Ed) and Stephanie Petty; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Judy was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jo Sestina.

There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 E. 4th St., Emporium, PA on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 10:30 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery in Emporium.
