Cameron County Community Chest 2022 Fund Drive – Dec. Update
We are eleven weeks into the 2022 fund drive. Over 200 letters have gone out to local individuals, businesses and organizations. We have had a great start. Through Dec. 17th we have collected $11,946 toward our $17,500 goal. Thanks to all who have contributed. This drive will run through September 30, 2022.
Watch for our monthly updates. Each month we will feature a write up on one of the organizations that the Cameron County Community Chest contributes to. This month’s feature will be the Cameron County Recreation Board.
Cameron County Recreation Center provides many different services to the local community. The main focus is to provide a safe but fun environment for area youth to enjoy.
The game room is open to members (ages 8-18) Monday through Saturday and offers a variety of table games and electronic gaming. The membership cost is $5.00 per year and includes use of the outdoor basketball court and pickle ball court. The game room may be reserved for private use and they have other rooms available for meetings and parties, all at a minimal fee. There is no charge for non-profit use. Tables and chairs can be used (when available) as well as outdoor party games. The large downstairs room has been closed for floor repairs, but they are excited that the space is expected to be available again by spring 2022. Please contact the Center for more information or check them out on Facebook at Cameron County Recreation Center.
The Recreation Center hopes to continue to collaborate with the 4-H program to provide out of school programs for youth ages 8-18 as well as summer 4-H programs. Summer participants are able to enjoy time at the South Park and Third Street playground. The playgrounds are supervised, participants are given the opportunity to participate in many collaborated activities including presentations from many community organizations, trips to Sinnemahoning State Park and the Elk Viewing Center, programs at Sizerville State Park, art classes, slime making and lots of other fun programs. We try to provide as many fun and educational programs as possible. Cameron County Recreation is also responsible for organizing and scheduling games for the girl’s and boy’s 4th through 6th grade elementary basketball program.
Cameron County Recreation Center is funded partly by the County, Emporium Foundation, and Community Chest. The 4-H and summer programs are funded entirely by grants from the Emporium Foundation. For questions about any of the programs that are provided please contact the Recreation Director, Rowan Crisp by phone 814-486-8915 or by email at camcorecreation@gmail.com.
No donation/memorial is too small. Please send your tax-deductible contribution to: Cameron County Community Chest, PO Box 134, Emporium, PA. 15834, Attn: Judd Schager. Help to support the Recreation Board, Community Nurses, Red Cross, Friends of the Library, the Package Team, Garden Club, Special Community Requests, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Sylvan Heritage and the S.P.C.A.
The Cameron County Community Chest Board of Directors wishes everyone a Safe and Happy Holiday Season.
