James R. Bennett, Sr.

 

James R. Bennett, Sr. of East Allegany Avenue, Emporium, formerly of Sinnemahoning, died Monday, September 27, 2021 at his home. Born April 20, 1943 in Sinnemahoning, he was the son of the late Layton and Ester Snyder Bennett. He attended Cameron County High School and was a machinist employed by Cameron Manufacturing in Emporium retiring in 2005. A lifelong resident of Cameron County, in his younger years he enjoyed car racing, hunting and fishing. Later in life he became very interested in metal detecting and sharing stories of all his treasure finds. He really enjoyed the time he spent with friends and family, especially his grandchildren, doing anything outdoors.

 Mr. Bennett is survived by: one son, James R. Bennett, Jr. and wife Brooke of Keller, TX; three daughters, Lisa L. Schmoke of Spring City, PA, Tammy S. Farrell of Sarasota, FL, and Jennifer L. Henry of Johnson City, TN; nine grandchildren, Tyler M. Woods, Jessica A. Watkins, Paul J. Hoover III, Brandon M. Ailes, Jacob M. Hoover, Riley K. Bennett, Ethan J. Bennett, Dylan A. Bennett, and Emily R. Bennett; two great grandchildren, Korbin T. Woods and Willow B. Woods, and one brother, Vernon "Pete” Bennett and wife Ursula of Stevensville, Ontario. 

 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Ida Diehl, Blanche Henry, Milton, Harold, Edward, Robert and infant Gerald Bennett and great granddaughter Piper G. Woods. 

 The family will hold a private gathering Saturday, October 2, 2021. 

 Contributions in James's memory may be made to the Emporium Fire Department, 421 N Broad Street, Emporium, PA 15834. 

 Arrangements are under the direction of the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.
