Austin Lynn Hostler, age 82, of Hudson passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Hickory Falls Health and Rehabilitation. He was born April 16, 1939 to the late Austin Clair and Jessie Casewell Hostler. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sons, Richard Hostler and Austin Hostler, Jr.; one great-grandson, Jesse Moate; six brothers; and two sisters.
Mr. Hostler was a faithful member of Refuge Missionary Baptist Church where he loved worshiping his Lord and Savior. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam Era and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Austin was also a skilled handyman and could fix anything. He will be remembered for his loveable personality, his prankster ways, and the unwavering love he had for his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 59 years, Paula Louise Stiver Hostler, of the home; two sons, Robert Hostler and wife Michelle of Fayetteville, and James Hostler and wife Pam of Wyoming; one daughter, Glenda Bentley and husband Tony of Hudson; two sisters, Eunice Albright, and Eva June Flaugh, both of Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services to honor the life of Mr. Hostler will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Refuge Missionary Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Darren Peterson. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy and the Caldwell County Honor Guard.
