Wykoff Run Work Complete; Detour Lifted

An update has been published to District 2 News on the PennDOT website.
Please see below for details. PennDOT - District 2 News

Wykoff Run Work Complete; Detour Lifted

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting area drivers that road work on Wykoff Run Road (Route 2001) in Cameron County has been completed. The end of this work means that the daylight detour that’s been in place since mid-August has been lifted.

Wet weather had slowed work progress, extending the closure and detour more than a week. With work now finished, PennDOT has removed the 40-mile detour that used Quehanna Highway, Route 555, and Route 120.

Since August 16, crews have been placing a double seal coat along the entire 10-mile stretch of Wykoff Run Road. The sealcoat will provide a protective coating to the asphalt pavement—extending its life and improving ride quality for drivers. Closing the road during this work enhanced safety for maintenance workers and should yield better results.

PennDOT thanks area drivers for their patience during this closure and reminds drivers to use caution in work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up. Motorists are encouraged to “Know Before They Go” by checking conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website. Subscribe to PennDOT news in Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin, and Potter counties at www.PennDOT.gov/District2.

Pratts East End Beverage Harley Davidson Ticket Update

Pratts East End Beverage

Pratts East End Beverage would like to address all of the rumors floating around regarding the Harley Davidson that we were chancing off.

On Friday 8/20 we were visited by the PLCB in regards to several minor issues, and one of those issues was the verbiage on the tickets for this bike. After discussing it with the PLCB and the board of the Moose Lodge. The Moose has made the decision to no longer have anything to do with chancing off this bike.

Since we would still like to see this bike won by someone who truly wants it, the owner of Pratt's, a member of Abate, contacted the local chapter of Abate regarding them taking over the chances on this bike and they have agreed to do this.

We have gone around and picked up all of the tickets that were at different locations to be sold and as of this date we have sold 400 tickets on the bike which leave 600 left to be sold. There will be a reprinting of all of the tickets and of the 400 that have been sold we will be transferring the names onto the same ticket number so that the stub that you currently have will match the new ticket. This will take some time to get done but an ETA is currently by the middle of next week. We will have the new stubs down at the beverage so if you would like your portion of the stub just stop down and we can provide that to you. We will make a post once they are available to pick up.

For the new tickets the bike will be the only prize on the new ticket. At another date to be determined we will be using the old ticket stubs along with allowing other people to fill out a stub and will draw tickets to allow someone to win the cornhole boards and the $100 gift certificate for Pratt's East End Beverage that were the other prizes that were listed on the original ticket.

Also, we have been asked by several people where the proceeds of this bike will be going and once all the tickets are sold donations will be made to the following locations, SPCA, Cameron County Ambulance, Volunteer Fire Department, Cameron County Food Bank, Storm Cheerleaders, Storm Football and the Cameron County Outdoor Youth Activities. There are several other non-profits that we are also considering.

We have tried to handle this the best way that we can and if you are not comfortable with these arrangements and would like to have your money refunded just let us know and we will happy to do that also.

We will need to know by 8/28 at the latest if you would like your money refunded as transferring names to new tickets will begin to occur the next day. If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact anyone at the beverage and we would be more then happy to answer any and all questions.

CC Food Pantry August Distribution

August Food Distribution -Cameron County Community Food Pantry

Free diapers also available today!!

Due to the corona virus outbreak, and operating with concern for the health of our clients, the Cameron County Food Pantry will be operating on the following schedule. If you are unemployed or have had a reduction in work hours due to the corona virus, you are eligible for this food distribution. Please call Dave Malize at 814-486-1161 Ext 269 and pre-register.

The regular Food Pantry distribution will be at the usual 1:00 pm time on Fourth Street in front of Northern Tier Community Action.

South Poplar Street will be closed to Food Pantry vehicular traffic. Clients with cars are asked to stage on Fourth Street in the spaces available between Vine Street and Poplar Street. You will be directed when to pull forward to the space in front of Northern Tier to receive your box. Please be patient while we try to get everyone through as quickly as possible. A volunteer will take your name and another will place your box(es) in your car (do not get out of your car) and you can then pull out as traffic allows, allowing the next vehicle to move up. If you are not able to get in line with your car, please just drive around the block and come back.

PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK TRAFFIC ON FOURTH STREET!

If you normally walk to the Food Pantry, you will also get your food box on Fourth Street. We will have a specific walk-up location for you to be served. Please wait there to be served and keep two arms lengths distance from others who may be in line for distribution. If you are sick or have a health issue that prevents you from coming out, or if you have questions, please call Dave Malize at 814-486-1161 Ext 269 and we will arrange to get your food to you. Please do not come out if you are sick!

Your cooperation is expected. Please be patient during this process. We will get  this by working together. PLEASE NOTE: Esther’s Place behind the Emporium First United Methodist Church continues to do a weekly distribution each Monday from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm. https://www.facebook.com/events/410285490280993
