Anonymous Donation Allows Fund Drive to Surpass 2021 Goal

 

Cameron County Community Chest 2021 Fund Drive May Update 

As of May 17th, we have collected $28,669 toward our $19,000 fund drive goal and $100.00 in memorials. We are very fortunate to have received a very generous/anonymous donation of $10,000. Thanks to all who have contributed. It is really appreciated in these uncertain times.

This month’s featured organization will be the Friends of the Library. The Friends of the Library helps to maintain the many important services of The Barbara Moscato Brown Public Library.

To generate funds, they have an annual Membership Drive in late spring and the ‘Donate and Say Merry Christmas’ project in November and December.

The previously held Used Book Sale format has changed. In its place, Mini Book Sales will be held throughout the year. These sales will be held in front of the library with sales by donation only.

Throughout the year, book related auctions are held. Book themed baskets are available via auction format.

However, this year, the Membership Drive is being done in the summer. The Christmas project will remain during the holidays.

The funds generated help the library to: Continue free services such as the public computer stations offering free internet service Provide the latest materials for reading, listening, and viewing Present public programs for children and adults Support the Emporium Garden Club which decorates the library throughout the year and also maintains the exterior plantings. Add needed shelving and other furnishings. Maintain the library building including exterior, interior, and the multi-purpose room which is used by many community organizations. Provide children’s programs, including Story Hour and Summer Reading Program, Lego Club for kids and more

The library has a new website patrons can access lots of material including e-books, magazines, classes, etc. For more information contact the library.
