Quilt of Valor Presented to Michael Fapore

On Tuesday November 24 the Cameron County Quilters presented a Quilt of Valor to Michael Fapore.

The Quilt of Valor Foundation’s mission is to cover all service members and veterans with comforting and healing quilts. Since it’s founding , Quilts of Valor has presented over 260,000 quilts to service members and veterans. This is the second time the Cameron County Quilters have participated in this project. They have enjoyed making the quilt and hope to continue to do this every year.

Mick entered the Army in 1953 and served until October 1955 having made the rank of Specialist 3rd Class. He has served this country, community and his fellow veterans in many ways. Mick serves as the American Legion Commander of the Olkosky-Jessup Post 194 since 2004.

He also volunteers in the community including helping with his church, food bank, the Little Museum, providing rides and more. On behalf of the Quilts of Valor Foundation, the Cameron County Quilters, fellow veterans and a grateful nation and community, with their deepest appreciation and thank you for his service, Mick was presented with a Quilt of Valor.
Presenting the quilt for the Cameron County Quilters was Judy Armanini and Karen Jiang.

  1. I was born and raised in Cameron County, and my ancestors were early settlers there. I am 77 years old. I have a few old crazy quilts which were made by my grandmothers and great grandmothers. I would like help in identifying the time period they were made, and also whether there is a place in Cameron County where I may decide to donate them. Grace McDowell Burrows
