Gary W. Baker


Gary W. Baker, 73, of 2287 Old West Creek Rd., Emporium, PA died at his residence on Wednesday evening (August 26, 2020). He had been battling cancer for several years. 

He was born July 18, 1947 in Williamsport, PA a son of the late Harold John and Nellie Daugherty Baker. He married Louise Nelen, who survives. 

Gary served with the US Army during the Vietnam Era from 1963 to 1966 and remained in the reserves until November 1969. He was a self employed log hauler working in that capacity from 1976 until his retirement in 2013. Gary loved working and could always be on the road hauling logs. He was a member of the American Legion. 

In addition to his wife he is survived by a brother, Robert Baker (Teresa), Ripley, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Sandra Baker, Benton, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Baker and a sister, Joyce Salinger. 

Due to Covid-19, Gary's visitation will be private at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Saturday, (August 29, 2020) at 11:00 AM. 

Burial will be in the Gilmore Cemetery, Austin, PA
