Cameron County Community Chest 2020 Fund Drive August Update

Cameron County Community Chest 2020 Fund Drive August Update

As of August 21st, we have collected $20,940 toward our $19,000 fund drive goal and $945.00 in memorials. Thanks to all who have contributed. It is really appreciated in these uncertain times. We will keep the 2020 Fund Drive open until September 30, 2020.

This month’s featured organization will be the Friends of the Library. The Friends of the Library helps to maintain the many important services of The Barbara Moscato Brown Public Library.

To generate funds, they usually have an annual Membership Drive in the spring; Used Book Sale during the summer; and the ‘Donate and Say Merry Christmas’ project in November and December.

However, this year, the Membership Drive is being done in the summer, and the Used Book Sale has been canceled. The Christmas project will remain during the holidays.

The funds generated help the library to: Continue free services such as the public computer stations offering free internet service Provide the latest materials for reading, listening, and viewing Present public programs for children and adults Support the Emporium Garden Club which decorates the library throughout the year and also maintains the exterior plantings. Add needed shelving and other furnishings. Maintain the library building including exterior, interior, and the multi-purpose room which is used by many community organizations. Provide children’s programs, including Story Hour and Summer Reading Program, Lego Club for kids and more The library has eBooks available. For more information, stop at the circulation desk.

Watch for new library events.

The Friends of the Library, annual Membership Drive has begun and is ongoing. If you would like to find out more about the Friends of the Library, join the group or to make a donation, stop in at the Barbara Moscato Brown Public Library or contact Nancy Zoschg.
