Wilcox native Bailey Pretak is a woman of many hats. She’s a motivational speaker, dancer, pageant queen and musician, and she wants the world to see her for who she is, not for her skin disorder. That’s one of the reasons she agreed to share her story on the Dr. Oz show, which is scheduled to air on Friday.
Dr. Oz reached out to Pretak after watching the short documentary Barcroft Media produced several years ago as a part of their “Shake My Beauty” series. In the eight minute documentary, she discussed the challenges that come along with the rare genetic skin disorder, lamellar ichthyosis, as well as how she eventually went on to excel at dancing and public speaking and even won several beauty pageants, including Miss Pennsylvania and Miss Congeniality.
The episode of Dr. Oz will air on WICU (NBC) out of Erie at 2 p.m. and WNLO (CW) out of Buffalo at 9 a.m. on Friday. For those who don’t have access to those stations, check your local television listings or visit www.doctoroz.com.
