The deadline to obtain a REAL ID (or other form of REAL ID-compliant identification), originally set for Oct. 1, has been extended by the Trump administration.
When a new deadline is announced, I will be sure to pass the information along.
The extension is the result of the spread of COVID-19, which has left many states, including ours, behind in the processing of REAL ID applications. This extension means you will continue to be able to board a domestic flight or enter a secure federal building with a standard driver's license beyond Oct. 1.
