Morning Glory Hill Greenhouse

Morning Glory Hill Greenhouse
Normally we don’t open until the end of April and it’s too soon to put much out now but we are going to make use of our produce stand during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Everything has been disinfected and it is in the stand now for self-service shopping. The stand is located at the entrance of our driveway. We put a few dozen eggs down there when we have them, but that isn’t a guarantee so first come first serve.

Please bring One dollar bills, or the exact amount, because we cannot make change. Just put your money in the box – it is all on the honor system. If you have a request for anything not at the stand, please call. 781-3707.
We will be taking payment via credit cards - just give us a call.

We ask that you schedule pick up the same day as payment to avoid confusion. Please do not order your vegetable flats or flower flats at this time. We are hoping to open but want to take things day by day and see how things are. Ordering is for small things such as honey, house plants, or call to see what is available at this time.

We’re going to try this for a few weeks and see how it goes as a trial. Also, if you need a gift certificate for Easter or Mother’s Day, call now and pay us online.
We will mail the gift certificate to you.

Remember, it is early to garden so we need this time to get things ready for the warmer months ahead. We are short staffed, doing our part by having only immediate family members entering the greenhouse and working as much as we can to get all the plants ready in time. Thank you so much during this difficult time.

Northern Tier & Cameron County Food Pantry Pick Up - Many Helping Hands

Northern Tier Community Action Corporation had many hands on deck to help with today’s food distribution! Wearing gloves, protective masks, and physically walking food boxes to the cars of waiting families allowed us to serve the people of Cameron County, while maintaining pro cautionary measures and social distancing to help prevent the spread of any kind of viruses.

Cameron County has not had a report of anyone being sickened by COVID19, but in times such as these we are using extra prudence. It was an overwhelming success, with only a few fixable glitches! Families in need will have food, and hopefully stay healthy.
A big thanks to the Cameron County Food Pantry for all their work !

Kane Drive In Update

Hello friends,

We wanted to take an opportunity to check in with you and let you know the status of the drive in during this unusual time.

We had planned on a mid April opening, but for many reasons...not the least of which is Governor Wolf’s mandate, we are putting the opening on hold for now. If things change before mid April, we will open on time. But for now, here’s the details.

Movie companies have pushed back the release dates of many of the Spring movies.

Even though it would seem that sitting in your car would be safe, we would still be faced with some level of social contact. We would be required to provide public restrooms. In addition, our gate would have to be open and would expose someone to contact with many people. And finally, we would be unable to open the snack bar, which is the greatest source of revenue for us.

While we miss you and would love to be able to provide a distraction to you and your family, at this time we will be postponing our opening until things improve. We will be closely monitoring the situation and we’ll keep you posted as things change. We will open as soon as the ban is lifted.

So, with all this said, wash your hands, take care of you and yours and we’ll see you soon under the beautiful starry skies!

April 4 Multiphasic Screening Postponed

April 4 Multiphasic Screening Postponed.

Given the ongoing global concerns around coronavirus, we want to do our part to keep our entire community safe and to contribute to the management of this growing public health crisis. Due to the potential for exposure and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for social distancing, UPMC is cancelling large group events.

As a result, we are postponing the multiphasic screening scheduled for Saturday, April 4, in Ridgway.

We apologize for any inconvenience and request your patience as we seek to make the best decisions possible to keep everyone in our community healthy and safe while also doing our part to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

REAL ID Deadline Extended

The deadline to obtain a REAL ID (or other form of REAL ID-compliant identification), originally set for Oct. 1, has been extended by the Trump administration.

When a new deadline is announced, I will be sure to pass the information along. The extension is the result of the spread of COVID-19, which has left many states, including ours, behind in the processing of REAL ID applications. This extension means you will continue to be able to board a domestic flight or enter a secure federal building with a standard driver's license beyond Oct. 1.

Emporium Vol Fire Dept Events Cancelled for Two Weeks

Emporium Vol Fire Dept

The regularly scheduled fire practice/training events are cancelled for the next two weeks. This allows us to follow state and federal social distancing guidelines as well as limiting our members exposure risk and ensure the department is able to continue to provide fire/rescue services to our community.

Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library Closed Through April 6

The library, in accordance with the following order will be remaining closed through at least April 6.

We received the following notice yesterday: “Consistent with the Governor’s order and Secretary Rivera’s closure extension for K-12 schools, and the Public Library Code which grants the Deputy Secretary for Libraries the power and duty to “coordinate a Statewide system of local libraries” (24 PA.C.S. § 9311(b)(5)), the Office of Commonwealth Libraries directs Pennsylvania public libraries to remain closed through at least April 6, 2020.”

As we have been for the past week, we will continue to extend due dates and forgive late fees for this period. Library staff will be available to answer questions via Facebook and Email and will continue to provide the community with the latest information and digital resources.

We appreciate your patience through these uncertain times. Stay safe out there.

PA Fish and Boat Commission COVID 19 Update

From the PA Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC):

In an effort to reduce large gatherings of people and the number of anglers traveling into the regional area, a single Mentored Youth Trout Day will occur on Saturday, April 11, and a Statewide Opening Day of trout season will take place on Saturday, April 18. The earlier regional mentored youth and opening days will not occur in 2020.

Trout stocking will be conducted on an accelerated schedule. To ensure public safety, volunteers will NOT be permitted to assist with stocking activities. In some cases, pre-season and in-season allocations of trout will be combined into single stocking events to increase the efficiency of stocking trips. Initially, stockings will be prioritized to deliver trout to regions of the Commonwealth that are predicted to be affected most severely by COVID-19 that could result in restrictions on travel.

To reduce unnecessary travel and social contact amid health concerns, anglers and boaters may display their fishing license, launch permit, or boat registration digitally on a phone or other mobile device as proof of possession. This change will allow customers who may be unable to, or feel uncomfortable visiting a store to purchase a fishing license, launch permit, or boat registration renewal to make the purchase online through The Outdoor Shop (www.pa.wildlifelicense.com).

If approached by a Waterways Conservation Officer (WCO) in the field, the angler or boater would only have to produce the digital image of the license, permit or registration on their phone or mobile device. A digital copy of the .pdf, photo, or screenshot of your fishing license, launch permit or boat registration on your phone or mobile device will all be accepted as proof of possession.

St Mark Church Two Special Events

TWO SPECIAL EVENTS:

 WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25th:
The Holy Father has called for the Solemnity of the Annunciation on March 25 to be a world day of prayer for all Christians. He asks all Christians to pray the Lord’s prayer that day, which the Pope will do at noon in Rome (7:00 a.m. our time). At 1:00 p.m. our time that day, Bishop Persico will lead the people of the diocese in praying the Our Father via a live-stream transmission which can be found on the diocesan website. He will then lead us in praying the Rosary to ask the Virgin Mary’s intercession during this crisis.

FRIDAY, MARCH 27th:
The Holy Father has also indicated that on Friday, at 6:00 p.m. Rome time (1:00 p.m. our time) he will lead a special prayer service from St. Peter Basilica overlooking the square. It will include Scripture, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and an extraordinary imparting of the Apostolic Blessing urbi et orbi (to the city and to the world) to which is attached the possibility of obtaining a plenary indulgence. The faithful are encouraged to participate through social media or other means of communication.
