Robert " Jerry " Summerson

Robert " Jerry " Summerson passed away Dec. 1st at the Penn Highlands Elk hospital with his loving family beside him.

Jerry was born July 25th 1937 in Sterling Run, PA.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Geelen Summerson, where they made their home in the village of Cameron for the past 38 years. He is also survived by their daughter, Aaron Summerson Burkhardt ,her husband James Burkhardt; and the love of his life, his grandchildren, Konner and Lilly Burkhardt. Also from a previous marriage he had a daughter Kitty Reid, and two granddaughters Katrina and Mariah, all from Emporium. Also surviving is a sister, Bibi Park and Steve Summerson, both of Emporium.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred L Summerson; Marie Devling Summerson and Donald Summerson of York PA, William Summerson of St. Marys PA, and Linda Summerson Rees of Emporium PA.

Jerry enlisted right after school to the US Army were he served in Germany from 1957 - 1959 and from 1960-1962 in the reserves. Jerry served with the 78 Artillery Battalion C , 4th Division.

He belonged to the VFW , Emporium Moose Club for over 40 years , Legion for 37 years, and the May Hollow Club.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday December 5, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Methodist Church in Emporium with Pastor James Eastman officiating, followed by a luncheon in their dining hall.
