Update on the 2019 Mushroom Festival held at the Driftwood Saloon on Saturday, October 5.
Our Mushroom Fest on Saturday turned out to be a fantastic day. The weather was perfect for the crowd of 137 people that attended!
Before piling into the bus to go look for wild mushrooms, Bill Russell, founder and past president of the Central Pennsylvania Mushroom Society, gave a presentation to educate everyone of the mushrooms that they may find and whether they are edible, non edible or poisonous. After the walk everyone came back to the Saloon to identify the mushrooms that were found. The cooks prepared some sheeps head and honey mushrooms and handed them out for everyone to sample. Following the identification there was a mushroom soup contest with 5 soups entered.
First place soup was made by Lori Lupro and her sister Dawn Lingenfelter. Second place went to Jenice Bassinger. Congratulations ladies and thank you to all that participated. Kathy McGonnell, Dave Longenecker and Jason Bassinger.
We'd also like to thank Student Transportation of America for providing the bus.
