Historical Society Annual Fall Dinner

"LOCAL HISTORIAN JR. MURRAY" to speak at the Cameron County Historical Society annual Fall Dinner Thursday October 17th at 5:30 PM at the VFW in Emporium 427 East Third Street, Emporium PA.

During the past years Jr. has researched many of the people who once lived in Bradytown and Canoe Run. Through his search he has found some interesting facts and stories about them. Who they were, what their jobs were and how everyday life was in this once thriving community.

Through the years Murray has explored the area numerous times and has found many artifacts such as; a miners pick, miners axe, coke hoe and coke fork. All of which he will have on display and discuss how each was necessary for the skills of the various trades that were performed there.

Some of the local people of that time Murray will talk about are the McCabe brothers who were loggers, the Minnos who worked the mines, the Stewarts and the Schwabs who were farmers and entrepreneurs. Many who were there were immigrants who came from the countries as Canada, Switzerland, Austria and Ireland.

Murray even has some artifacts from the site to share with those who attend to take home as a souvenir.

Don't miss this dinner that promises great entertainment by our very own historical orator Jr. Murray. Enjoy a stuffed pork chop with all the trimmings at the cost of $22 - All interested parties must RSVP no later than October 14, 2019 call 814-486-4314 New Members always welcome!
