LAST CALL FOR PRE-ORDERS OF "THE GHOST WALK"

LAST CALL FOR PRE-ORDERS OF "THE GHOST WALK"

The Legacy Behind Cameron County's Civilian Conservation Corp Camps Presented by The Cameron County Historical Society Pre-orders are being accepted for a donation of $20 +$5 if you need it shipped. Remembering .....Who were they? Where did they come from? Why did they come here? What did they do in Cameron County?

Roosevelt's Tree Army "The Ghost Walk" focuses on the thousands of starving young men who joined the Corp who came to Cameron County from the cities of Pennsylvania during the depression to help feed their families. Although they were known mostly for planting thousands of trees to restore our forests after the lumber barons of the past had desecrated them. Their legacy extends beyond that. They surveyed and built forestry roads, and fire towers. They created the Sizerville Park Recreation Area. They even built a ferry after the 1936 flood to perform flood relief in nearby communities. Plus installed our "first telephone lines" in opening communications for us to the world. You can actual witness their work by the extensive photos included in the book. The Corp created MEN who, gained multiple skill sets, education and most of all regained their dignity. Christmas is not that far away this book would make a great Christmas Gift.

Checks can be made out to the Cameron County Historical Society and sent to PO Box 433; Emporium, PA 15834.
