Mark L. McLean


Mark L. McLean, 95, of Pioneer Road, Emporium, PA died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA on Saturday (May 25, 2019) evening following a brief illness.

He was born November 8, 1923 in Jamaica, Vermont a son of the late Mark F. and Florence Dibble McLean. March 18, 1946 he married the late Mary Grimone. Mark graduated high school from Leland and Gray Seminary in 1940 and then from the University of Vermont in 1943. He retired from Sylvania/Phillips where he worked for many years as a engineer. He was a member of Singing Dutchmen, Emporium Mens Club, Bucktail Rod & Gun Club, First Presbyterian Church and the church choir and sang in the Passion Play Choir at the Coudersport Consistory for over forty years, Cameron County Cardiac Committee, Bucktail Watershed, SME and the Emporium Senior Center. He had coached the VFW team of the Cameron County Little League and was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 52. He had many years of delivering Meals on Wheels up until 2018 and was a Red Cross Blood Donor for many years. He was the cofounder of Camco Circuits and cofounder of the Sylvania Ski Club at Cowley Hill. He enjoyed skiing, hunting, fishing, tennis and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He is survived by daughter, Linda L. Ostrum; son, Robert F. "Bunny" McLean; daughter, Susan "Susie" M. Gribble; son, Rick (Mary Kay) McLean all of Emporium; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and a sister, Helen Meyer. 

In addition to his parents and wife Mary he was preceded in death by a son, John M. McLean; brother, Frank McLean and a sister, Thelma in infancy.

Visitation with Video Tribute will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-8 PM. Funeral Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 205 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Wednesday (May 29, 2019) at 11:00 AM with Rev. Emilia Burdick, officiating. 

Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA
