Jonathan D. Lewis

Jonathan D. (Jake) Lewis, 64, of Sizerville Rd., Emporium, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa.

Born July 8, 1954 in St. Marys, he was the son of Gerald and Bernice Bates Lewis. On March 14, 2007 in St. Marys, he married Dawn S. Shaffer who survives.

A lifelong resident of Emporium he was a 1972 graduate of Cameron County High School and through the years was employed by several local industries including Lewis & Hockenberry, Inc. lumber mill and Motor Coils Manufacturing both in Emporium and Speer Carbon in St. Marys. For 3 years he worked out of state on oil rigs in Wyoming but soon returned to Emporium.

An avid canoer he canoed most of the West and North branches of the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania. Other loves included rebuilding Jeeps and most of all his family.

In addition to his wife Dawn, Mr. Lewis is survived by: two sons, Gerald Lewis of Peoria, Arizona and Eli (Alecia) Lewis of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; one daughter, Becca (Rafe Garza) Ruberto, also of Peoria; two grandsons, Isaac Surra and Parker Lewis and one granddaughter, Ilana Lewis all at home; two sisters, Geri (Ed) Kroft of Rixford, Pa., Jacqueline (David) Anderson of Washington, Pa.; sister-in-law, Kathy Lewis of Camp Hill; and also nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased his parents and two brothers, Clyde and Richard.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.
