Today is National Vietnam War Veterans Day. May we pause to honor and remember those who fought and died serving our country during the Vietnam War.
This marks only the third year that National Vietnam War Veterans Day has been officially observed.
A bipartisan bill authored by Sens. Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Joe Donnelly (D-IN) created the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act and was signed into law in 2017. March 29 was chosen because that was the day in 1973 when the last U.S. troops withdrew from South Vietnam, and the last of the American POWs held in North Vietnam arrived back home.
