Catherine C. "Kate" Pohl

Catherine C. "Kate" Pohl, 87, of 423 W Allegany Ave., Emporium, PA died at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, PA Monday morning (November 26, 2018). She was born January 6, 1931 in Ridgway, PA a daughter of the late John and Anne Gallagher Quigley.

 Mrs. Pohl graduated from Emporium High School in the class of 1948 and from St. Vincent School of Nursing, as a registered nurse, in 1951. She attended Edinboro University and later graduated from Clarion University with a BS in education with a major in public school nursing. She retired in 1992 from Cameron County School District where she was a school nurse for over 25 years. Before working for the school district she worked for Dr. Joseph Blackburn for 3 1/2 years, for the Visiting Nurses Association in Erie &  the former Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. She was a member of PASR, St. Mark Catholic Church, C.D. of A. where she served as Regent & District Deputy for Ridgway & St. Marys Courts and she was a member of the St. Marks Rosary Society. 

Survived by a daughter, Brigid Pohl, Shepherdstown, WV; a son, John M. Pohl, Sterling, VA; seven grandchildren, Matthew Heitzenrater, Shannon Pieczynski, Timothy Irwin, Megan Irwin, Noah, Joshua & Ethan Pohl, three great grandchildren, Brenna, Kaylie, Jacob, Fiona and Reece. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Irwin; son, Timothy and three sisters, Mary Anne Ronen, Jane Blackford &Margaret Kondek,

 Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. 4th St., Emporium, PA on Friday from 4-7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Saturday, November 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor as Celebrant. 

Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA
